I am allergic to smoke and was disappointed there was not designated smoking areas, people can smoke anyplace they like. The housekeeping staff were excellent! I would go again to this resort but avoid the restaurants I mentioned. The beach was nice but due to the location no swimming advised due to rip currents. I was not impressed to hear this from other guests. The pools were very nice, although one pool a woman vomited and the staff did not close the pool off immediately. The staff are not afraid to give you 3 oz of a drink without even asking. The drinks were otherwise made well, there was high end cognac, tequila, and other spirits. We did find it interesting that if you purchase a bottle of wine you can reserve your table of choice and get a "special menu" that is not avail to everyone else. The Italian was good, as well as the seafood restaurant. We tried all the restaurants in the hotel - The Japanese was the best. The Buffet was very good both breakfast and dinner, We never ate lunch in the buffet. I was overall impressed by the staff, hotel layout, and general access to the various areas of the hotel. This was the first time at Secrets resort. We are going back in April 2018 and booked a Preferred Club Swim Out room. This place is amazing!! Did I mention no kids around either? AH.music to my ears. Even though we had our own swim out pool, we spent a lot of time at the main pool where the drinks kept coming. We came a few days before the storm so we got to experience the resort before and after. They graciously accommodated our request and we were moved to the building next to the main lobby. We had a garden view swim out suite and it was amazing!!! During the storm, we asked if we could change rooms to be closer to the main building since we were battling 60+ MPH winds and pelting rain. Even during the storm, the resort was 90% running. They charged us $200/night which was well worth it. Our orginal trip was for 4 nights but becasue of the storm we stayed an extra two nights. Please keep in mind, the staff was stuck at the resort with us because the local roads out became flooded and they couldn't go home to their families all the while keeping smiles on their faces. During this time, the staff worked tirelessly to keep the common areas free of water. Almost hurricane force winds and tons of rain tore up the resort and flooded most of the common areas and restaurants. We've never experienced anything like TS Lidia. The staff was very professional and kept all of us comfortable during TS Lidia. We had no idea what were we in for as I booked this trip months in advance and wasn't expecting bad weather let alone TS Lidia!!! I read a review from Wanderlust1688 and from what I read, they were there during TS Lidia as well but we had a complete opposite from their stay.
